After Seven Years Free Agent "Eddie House"

Eddie House’s agent said the veteran guard agreed to terms on a $2.8 million, two-year contract with the Miami Heat on Thursday.

House was one of the best shooters remaining on the free agent market and had received more lucrative offers.

Bartelstein said that it's just a great fit. This guy had a great relationship with the Heat before. And he's still one of the most dynamic guys coming off the bench at hitting big shots in big moments. He's the best in the league at what he does.

House, a fan favorite during Pat Riley's early coaching days with the team, becomes the fifth guard under guaranteed contract with the team. He spent three seasons with the Heat after being drafted by the team in the second round in 2000.

House was originally selected by the Heat with a second-round pick in the 2000 NBA draft. He spent three seasons with the Heat and has played for eight other teams since then.

House is the 14th player under guaranteed contract on the Heat for the coming season and the 16th player under contract overall. NBA teams can dress a maximum of 12 players on game night and carry a maximum of 15 in the regular season. Teams may carry as many as 20 players in the offseason.

House joins a Heat supporting cast that also includes Udonis Haslem, Juwan Howard, Mike Miller, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and James Jones. He joins a guard rotation that includes likely starter Mario Chalmers and Carlos Arroyo. House expects to play both guard spots.

House's popularity during his previous Heat tenure reached the point where fans were wearing "Free Eddie House" T-shirts to encourage Riley to give additional playing time to the former Arizona State standout.
